چکیده

It is a common practice to check the performance of a TLD reader by inserting a light source composed of a phosphor mixed with a radioactive material, e.g., 14C . The response to the light source is used as a measure of a) the calibration or long-term stability of the reader and b) the ability of the reader to reproduce a constant signal. Usually the laboratory which measures a wide range of dose levels will desire several light sources of different intensities. Recently ConRad* has answered this need by providing sets of two light sources, A and B, differing by about a factor of 100 in intensity.

Office of Radiation Protection BACKGROUND RADIATION ACCUMULATION AND LOWER LIMIT OF USED BY THE CENTRALIZED EXTERNAL DOSIMETRY SYSTEM DETECTION IN THERMOLUMINESCENT BETA-GAMMA DOSIMETERS

A value for "average background radiation" of 0.75 mR/week has been determined from a total of 1680 thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD's) exposed in 70 houses for periods up to one year. The distribution of results indicates a rather large variation among houses, with a few locations exhibiting backgrounds double the general average. Some discrepancies in the short-term background accumulation o...

Development of the InLightTM Monitoring Service for World-wide Application

This paper describes the development of a new type of personal radiation dosimeter that combines the excellent features of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) with the convenience of Panasonic type readers. The specification required for the badge in world-wide application is first discussed. The dosemeter is a Panasonic type dosemeter with OSL detectors replacing the thermoluminescence dos...

Synthesis of strontium borate doped with Pb by solid state method and characterization of its thermoluminescent glow curve

Strontium Tetraborate doped with Lead SrB4O7:Pb powder was prepared by solid state method. The formation of Strontium Tetraborate compound was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Thermoluminescence Glow Curve of gamma irradiated sample was investigated in order to use as a thermoluminescent dosimeter. Because of excellent mechanical properties, non-hygros...

Sintered Al2O3 based Materials for Radiotherapy Thermoluminescent Dosimeter Applications

INTRODUCTION The thermoluminescent (TL) properties of various materials have been studied since a long time but many of these developments never reach the thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) users. α-Al2O3:C TL detectors were first developed and produced at Urals Polytechnical Institute ( UPI ) (1) in the form of a single crystal. These TLD ( model 2600 – 80 ) are now supplied by Victoreen to man...

Feasibility Study on Applying Radiophotoluminescent Glass Dosimeters for CyberKnife SRS Dose Verification

CyberKnife is one of multiple modalities for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Due to the nature of CyberKnife and the characteristics of SRS, dose evaluation of the CyberKnife procedure is critical. A radiophotoluminescent glass dosimeter was used to verify the dose accuracy for the CyberKnife procedure and validate a viable dose verification system for CyberKnife treatment. A radiophotolumines...
